Then, there are those meanings which lurk in the shadows, just out of the corner of your eye, waiting to reveal themselves only once you give them your full attention.

WHO ARE ELA?

In short, we are a group of writers and editors who created something for those who want more from what they read and write. We are dedicated to working with writers who have created stories that are more than what they seem.

We all have something more to us, whether we show it to the world or not, so why should our writing be any different?

ELA Literary Magazine is a UK-based literary magazine dedicated to publishing fiction that surprises, delights, and occasionally unnerves. We’re looking for writing that demonstrates there’s always another way to tell a story, and reminds us why we fell in love with stories in the first place.

As three friends from across the UK with a shared love for literature, we have a desire to create something new, accessible, and fun for writers. We’re passionate about discovering stories that subvert expectations, challenge tired tropes, and explore the beautiful complexity of human connection through fresh and unexpected lenses.

ELA Edit is a freelance collective dedicated to delivering friendly and professional services to writers from all around the world. Bringing years of editing experience and an open-minded perspective, we are eager to assist writers in bringing their visions to life.

As four editors who continuously find ourselves encountering the same editing qualms, and as like-minded readers of everything out of the ordinary, we are excited to channel our efforts into work with the next generation of authors. We love fiction that is subversive, complex, and challenges the expectations of the readers; we love non-fiction that is compelling, inspiring, and offers a new perspective.
